Fender american stratocaster deluxe series

Can be an alder or an ash body depending on the color - solid colors plus 3-color sunburst and trans crimson red are alder, all other transparent colors are ash. Also these do not have that beveled neck heel until some time in 2002. These do not have that 'S-1' switch that adds other pickup combinations so it just has the 'normal' Strat combinations. They all have locking tuners and the 'deluxe' trem with a snap-in arm and chrome plated cast saddled, but until about 2007-2008 you could also get the HSS models with a locking trem (single locking, no fine tuners) HSS models have the LSR roller nut, and SSS models have the standard nut. Versions 1 and 2 have a standard modern Fender 9.5' radius, version 3 has the compound radius neck.

There have been 3 versions of the American Deluxe since the first ones came out in 1998 the specs are all a little different, with the key difference being the noiseless single coil pickups (all versions use the same Fender humbucker in the HSS models).
